Simple Sushi Recipe

GreenSpoon Vegetarian Sushi Rolls for Any Occasion

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sushi rice
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Nori sheets (seaweed)
  • Fillings: cucumber, carrot, avocado, cream cheese, etc.
  • Soy sauce, pickled ginger, wasabi (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Cook sushi rice as per package instructions. Mix warm rice with rice vinegar, sugar, and salt. Let it cool.
  2. Place a nori sheet on a bamboo sushi mat.
  3. Spread a thin layer of rice over nori, leaving 1 inch at the top empty.
  4. Add thin slices of fillings horizontally across the rice.
  5. Roll the sushi tightly using the mat.
  6. Slice the roll into bite-sized pieces with a sharp, wet knife.
  7. Serve with soy sauce, pickled ginger, and wasabi.

Pro Tip

Keep a small bowl of water nearby to wet your knife between cuts. This prevents the rice from sticking to the blade and gives you clean cuts.
