Homemade Burger
Classic Juicy Burger with Fresh Toppings
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 mix)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 hamburger buns
- 4 slices of cheese (cheddar, American, or your choice)
- Lettuce leaves
- Tomato slices
- Red onion slices
- Condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise)
Instructions
- Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions. Form each into a patty about 1/2 inch thick and slightly wider than your buns.
- Make a small indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb (this prevents the burgers from puffing up).
- Season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
- Heat a skillet or grill to medium-high heat.
- Cook the patties for about 4 minutes on each side for medium doneness.
- Add cheese slices during the final minute of cooking.
- Toast the buns lightly if desired.
- Assemble your burgers with your preferred toppings and condiments.
Pro Tip
For the juiciest burgers, avoid pressing down on the patties while cooking, as this squeezes out the flavorful juices.
