Homemade Burger

Classic Juicy Burger with Fresh Toppings

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 mix)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 slices of cheese (cheddar, American, or your choice)
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Red onion slices
  • Condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise)

Instructions

  1. Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions. Form each into a patty about 1/2 inch thick and slightly wider than your buns.
  2. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb (this prevents the burgers from puffing up).
  3. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
  4. Heat a skillet or grill to medium-high heat.
  5. Cook the patties for about 4 minutes on each side for medium doneness.
  6. Add cheese slices during the final minute of cooking.
  7. Toast the buns lightly if desired.
  8. Assemble your burgers with your preferred toppings and condiments.

Pro Tip

For the juiciest burgers, avoid pressing down on the patties while cooking, as this squeezes out the flavorful juices.
